Spring Break is this week in our county and next week in the next county over! Families are scrambling for ways to entertain their kids over the break. Seven hours of school, five days, that's 35 extra hours of free time!
You don't have to worry about breaking the bank while trying to entertain your children. There are plenty of fun activities to partake in that don't cost much - some don't cost anything at all!
Sports
You can pick up a variety of balls for only a few bucks each at stores as small as the Dollar Store and as big as Wal-Mart. Many stores even have big kits with things like rugby sets, tennis, badminton, jump ropes and more. Not only will these entertain your children, they'll promote exercise so that they aren't coach potatoes for the whole week.
Board Games
There are so many board games available, all with different age ranges. Board games offer inexpensive fun (often, the younger the goal age, the cheaper). They are always changing, with new competition forming and new strategies to use. They can provide hours of family friendly, PG fun. Even better, many are equally enjoyable for the parents!
Cards
Cards are also very versatile. With a simple deck of cards, which you can pick up for a few bucks, you can teach your kids many games such as Go Fish!, Rummy, BS (just don't tell them what it stands for!) and even poker, if they're a little bit older. They also have themed cards available - One of my favorites is Skip-Bo, recommended for older kids such as teens.
