You know what they say... One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Their are so many different sites where you can sell your old stuff and each of them have their own advantages. Here are a few (that I've used) to help get you started!
1. Ebay
Okay so most of you already know about Ebay but if you don't... It's an auction site where you can list your stuff for a set amount of time and then let people bid on it. The highest bidder (obviously) wins your item. You send it to them, they pay you! I know what you're thinking... what if nobody bids? What if my item sells for too little? Well with Ebay, you can search the marketplace for your item to see how much they're selling for. If you have a video game and you search it and see that people aren't bidding more than $3, you probably shouldn't list it. If you have a movie and you search it and people are paying $15, go ahead and try! I believe this site is best for things like electronics and movies but I've seen some vintage and antique items go for some pretty big money.2. Listia
Listia is an online auction site, like Ebay. However, it's a little different than most sites in that you don't make any money, you make credits. You can use the credits you make to bid on other members items and sometimes you get lucky and win something for as little as 20 credits! Gift cards, clothing, jewelry and some movies and games go for big money but keep in mind - most people hate to pay shipping on this site! If you really want to make credits, you're best bet would be to do free shipping.Sign up for Listia and get free credits!
3. Etsy
You can't just sell any old junk on Etsy like a pair of old gym socks or a movie you just bought and didn't like... However, anything that is handmade, vintage or a "supply" can be sold. This includes vintage clothing, toys, shoes and handmade clothing, art, jewelry, etc. As far as supplies, you can sell yarn, beads, fabric, wire, etc. It costs $.20 to list an item, which isn't too bad if they actually sell! Beware: ALOT of people have Etsy shops so you're stuff may or may not fly off the "shelves".
These are just a few sites you can use to sell off your old stuff. I encourage you to explore them and any others you may hear about.
Have you sold anything online before? Do you know of another great online marketplace? Tell us about it in the comments!
