As someone whose family owns a construction business, I know the perils of not having a proper Subscription Billing Software to keep track of purchases and payments. So many times, I hear of new companies starting up and their owners decide they're going to work their company without a billing system. They think it's a money-saver but in reality, not having a billing system in place can cost a lot more money than it saves.
For example, when our company completes a construction job, the next step is to get paid! You can't expect everyone that you work for to be upfront and genuine when it comes to payment. So what if someone just decides they don't want to pay you? What if they say they'll have to pay you later? All you have to trust is their word, there is no system in place to keep them in order.
Even if you believe the person may pay, how will you go about reminding them? Are you just going to write it on a post-it and hope to remember? Are you going to call them up one night when you're reminded? Not only is this an unprofessional move but what do you expect them to say when you call? For them, it's very easy to avoid you unless you have a system to remind them and keep track of their payments and what they still owe you.
This has happened to our family business many times before a billing system was put in place. Most people would naturally want to destroy the work they had done. Maybe take down the gutters they put up or pull off the roofing they placed - Afterall, it was your hardwork and materials, why shouldn't you get them back from someone who didn't pay you? Unfortunately, that's against the law and even though they didn't pay you, you will get in big trouble for trying to take your merchandise back.
To make sure that you get the money you deserve from your customers, you must have a proper billing system in place. Without it, it will be difficult for you to keep track of who owes money and when it's due.
With a billing system, all of your sales are kept organized and ready for you when you need them for reference. It will also help you to easily send disputes to collection agencies when you have uncooperative customers. It's the most organized and professional way to deal with payments!
This is a sponsored post however, all the points and views are my own.
