No matter what kind of business or site you run, dedicated servers are much better than shared servers. They are completely customizable meaning you can add/remove a wide range of programs, they are for you and you only so other people's screwups won't affect your networks and of course, you have complete privacy over the information you store since you're not sharing your server with others.
When you run on a shared server, your computer works like just about everyone elses, including everyday people using their computers for simple things like checking email and playing games. If you're running a business, this is a sign that you need to upgrade! A shared server that is used by the general public is not what your business needs. A dedicated server is customizable so whatever you want on your computer can be added and programs that just won't work for your company can be removed to save space. It's basically possible for you to format your computer to the perfect style for your company! This can make a big difference when you're dealing with things like payroll, file-keeping and for email and password storage of customers.
A dedicated server is specifically for your company so what you do on it is your choice. If you're on a shared server, someone that you don't even know can make a silly mistake and cause your networks trouble, even though you did nothing wrong! This can mean not having access to your files, websites, etc. This is really unfortunate for just any company, especially if you have important information stored on your computers that you need access to at all times.
Just because you want to have access to private information 24/7 doesn't mean you want others to! On a shared server, your opening yourself up to others and it's quite easy for them to view information stored on your servers. With a dedicated server, no one has access to it but you and those you decide to share it with. This is incredibly important when you store things like credit card numbers and customer information!
When running a business, it's very helpful to have a dedicated server. It's a few steps above the standard shared server because it gives you extra customization, it guards you from being affected by others outside of your company and it gives you better privacy and protection from outside users. If you want your company to run smoothly, a dedicated server is your best bet!
