A Crash Course in Web Hosting

A website is a wonderful thing. Whether it's for a company or brand, articles, or anything else, it's a great way to establish your ideas for anyone on the internet to see! To start a website can seem pretty tough as there are many different parts to get it working. One thing in particular that seems to confuse people is hosting! Here's a crash course in what it is and how to find it!

Web hosting is what puts your site on the internet. Without hosting, your site doesn't exist! It's makes the difference in a website idea and an actual website. There are many different versions such as Sparknode Cloud VPS. This is a version that basically takes care of itself. This is great for amateur web builders because it's not as difficult to figure out the scheme of things.

Hosting is provided by a number of companies and they all provide different amounts of gb, or space to put information and coding for your site. The more gb offered, the more content you can add to your site. Many sites won't take up too much gb, especially if they're mainly text content (such as articles). Some hosting services come with emails for your site (for example, user@themoneychick.com), as well, included in the hosting package.

They also offer different amounts of "uptime". Uptime is the amount of time your website will actually be available to users. For example, if a site says they offer 50% uptime (which is horrible, if you were wondering!) that means your site will be up on the internet half of the time. The higher the uptime offered, the better! You want your site to be up as much as possible so that people can see it. If your site is down often, new people may not get to see your site and people may stop visiting it because it's always down!

Hosting is surely the most important part of building a website. While it may seem complex, many companies take care of most of the work for you. You simply pick a hosting package and they will take care of the rest. You only need to pick out the amount of space you'll need and the amount of uptime you won't! It can be easy with the right company on your side.

This is a sponsored post however, all the points and views are my own.

  1. 50% uptime is really horrible....99.9% uptime is the quality that web hosting providers offers nowadays. Web hosting companies offers lots of great features.
